WARMUP
Watch warmup video 1 and answer the following questions on a piece of paper. What do these people do everyday? Write down a few ideas.
Now think about yourself. What do you do everyday? Every Sunday? Every morning? Think about yourself, your routine, your habits, your job and your life. Write down a few ideas. You are going to need them later.
GRAMMAR: PRESENT SIMPLE
Today you are going to learn about the Present Simple and why we use it.
A. We use the Present Simple to talk about REPEATED THINGS such as ROUTINES, HABITS and FACTS. Let’s look at a few examples.
Ex. I wake up early. (routine)
Ex. I dream about travelling to Brazil. (habit)
Ex. The Earth circles the sun.
How do we make a positive Present Simple sentence?
SUBJECT + PRESENT VERB
'----- I work
'----- I work
'----- We wake up early
'- He work (wrong), I works (wrong)
B. How do we use the Present Simple to make negative sentences? Here are some examples of negative sentences:
Ex ---- I DON'T wake up early.
Ex ---- My mom DOESN'T cook breakfast in the mornings.
Ex ---- The sun DOESN'T travel around the earth.
